In his letter "Sea ice to accusation for trapped boats, not icebergs", Dave Lanara addendum that it was sea ice, not icebergs that trapped boats in Newfoundland, as was appear in the antecedent week's Earthweek feature. He again argues that "every aboriginal year science student" realizes that sea ice is formed by freezing of the ocean surface, which he implies contradicts the all-around abating predictions.
While I accede that calling it sea ice would accept been added authentic than calling it an iceberg, the Earthweek affection still lends acceptance to all-around abating regardless. As the Arctic warms, added ice melts about the edges, accouterment greater advancement for the older, thicker ice that is afterpiece to the pole. This allows the ocean currents to carriage this thicker ice to abrupt locations, such as Newfoundland. I assumption they don't advise that to science acceptance until the additional year.
Perhaps we should heed the 97 percent of climatologists who accede all-around abating to be real. If we listened to them instead of the abecedarian first-year science students, maybe we would not be on the aisle we are now. All-around abating is not some abundant advanced conspiracy... unless maybe the sea ice is in on it too!
